It's our "holiday week" this week and we've done a lot of nice walks, chilling, and crafting. Today we went out towards Henley and visited Stonor House and Park, finished off with a nice walk to the top of the hill opposite for the fantastic view of the house. The house itself was a Catholic safe house for priests during the dissolution of monasteries. Perhaps my favourite part was the hidden room, viewed through a window, behind a fireplace where they hid priests - and where Saint Edmund secretly printed his scathing diss of protestants. A really interesting place, especially as it is still lived in and used - and feels like it. And worth it for the view from the hill.
